The artist’s client described Bear as “the love of her life.” Knowing her deep connection to the beloved pet, her husband commissioned the painting for her birthday. The artist was honored to be with the couple when he presented the completed commission to his wife and was moved to see her cry with joy upon seeing it. Having a portrait of their elderly dog is helping them deal with the grief they are anticipating feeling knowing that Bear will not be with them at some time in the future.
