The Glass Blower is a portrait of an artist at work in his studio. It captures the beauty of the human form in focused contemplation, as his thoughts, feelings, and energy are transformed into a unique work of artistic expression.
“The Glass Blower” was featured in the April 2018 American Art Collector magazine issue, Emerging Artists, Editors Pick section. When asked what her inspiration for the painting was, the artist had this to say, “I had the pleasure of meeting the glass blower, Evan Schauss, and watching him work in his Maui, Hawaii, studio. His fierce dedication to his craft and his career as an artist shines through his work and shimmers like a palpable energy in the air around him as he moves in a dance born of years of repetition in his workshop. Seeing beautiful objects rise out of lumps of raw material was mesmerizing. In the painting of Evan I worked to convey this energy and movement with expressive brush strokes, broken color, and the juxtaposition of visually exciting warmer reds and oranges such as that found in the active figure, Evan, against calming, cooler blues and browns of his surroundings.”
